Three of her four scheduled surgeries are complete and there is no end in sight. YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED.

Haley was born very premature (25 weeks gestation...1lb 6oz), and required ventilator assistance for four months. After several attempts to remove her from the ventilator, the Drs discovered that she had severe scarring in her trachea. She had a trach put in at 4 months of age. She spent 7 months in the hospital as a newborn. In 1999 she was referred to Childrens Hospital in Chicago because her airway issues are so severe that no other Dr had the expertise to treat her. After several tracheal reconstructions with a world renown Physician in Chicago, 700+ miles from home, she had her trach removed at age 4. and two more revisions, one in 2001 and another in 2002. She has also had several follow up surgeries where scarring was lasered from her airway. Unfortunately, her airway was not growing and the hole from her stoma would not close due to this severe scarring. These airway restrictions are causing her not to grow at a NORMAL rate as compared to her peers. They have just found out that her current insurance will only cover half the costs.  The first trip took place July 17th in Chicago, the second surgery occured on Sept 19th 2012. She had a vocal chord revision and upper airway reconstruction, she was hospitalized until Oct 1st and had to remain in the Chicago until October 10th. Jan 13th, 2013 she returned to Chicago for a broncoscopy and found severe scarring at her vocal chords and her trach had to be put back in. A huge setback but obviously the wisest choice. She will return in April to see what can be done next to resolve the scarring problem.  The bills from the first two trips have already started to come in. So far they total $179,000+, of which her insurance will cover 50%. Haley has been travelling back and forth to Chicago since she was a baby. Her Dr has removed her from school until all these airway issues are resolved and her breathing improves. Please help if you can....Thank-You.
