With your help, Aaron, an autistic child, can afford learning equipment to help him speak.

My son, Aaron seem like a normal child when he was born. As a baby he giggled, crawled to me, ate, etc. Right after he turned one he came down with pneumonia and was hospitalized overnight. After that I noticed a dramatic change in his appetite. He stopped eating and only drank milk and juice. He stopped making baby gibberish. I never heard my baby call me "mama". At the age of four he was diagnosed by a child neurologist with pervasive developmental disorder, a form of autism.
Today Aaron is 7 years old. Unfortunately, like many marriages involving a child with autism, Aaron's father and I have divorced. Regardless I try my best to make him a happy child. He's goes to school in a confined class for autistic boys. He has speech therapy two days a week. He's using more words now and I finally heard him say the word mommy.
50% of autistic children have extreme difficulty learning to speak, 25% of them never will. Communication devices are extremely expensive and with the economy these days, affording such gadgets is hard for a single mother. Any donations will contribrute to Aaron's speech therapy. I am hoping to get him an iTouch/iPad. It has specially designed apps that help autistic children learn and communicate. I am also hoping that with the help of you all, we can also provide the other boys in Aaron's class each an iPad of their own.
