Meet Karly Gerow. Karly is a happy, bright eyed 2 year old who greets all she meets with a smile. Rhabdomyosarcoma has attacked her body.

When you look at the word rhabdomyosarcoma, what do you think it is?

Rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare form of cancer that attacks the muscles attached to the bones. The most common sites are the head/neck, the urogenital tract, and the arms and legs. Karly is under the care of the country’s top oncologists at John’s Hopkin’s. They see one to two cases of Rhabdomyosarcoma per year. Treatment includes surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Children aged 1 to 9 years of age have the best prognosis. The cancer attacked Karly’s urinary tract, one of the most common sites, as well as, the highest cure rate.
