The friends and family of Bobbi Hernandez are trying to pay for an air ambulance flight to get her from Oklahoma to her home in California.

We need to get my grandmother Bobbi Hernandez home.

On May 25th, 2011 at 3AM, my grandparents, great uncle, and great grandmother were driving back to California from Arkansas when they were in a terrible auto accident while passing through Oklahoma on interstate 40 westbound. Their car veered off the road and flipped onto it's top, trapping everyone inside. Emergency services managed to get them out of the vehicle and taken to Mercy Hospital.

My grandfather Eliut, Uncle Jimmy Ray, and great grandma Roxy were fortunate to make it out with minor injuries. My 80-year old grandmother (Nana) suffered multiple broken/fractured ribs, a broken collar bone, a lacerated spleen, and a collapsed lung. She is presently in Kindred North Hospital, a long term care facility in Oklahoma City. She is in a great deal of pain and is unable to speak because of the breathing tube they had to put in her throat.

Red Cross and Salvation Army were generous enough to arrange to fly my mother Donna Gimbel to Oklahoma so she can help support my Nana and Popi through this awful experience. Unfortunately, due to my Nana's condition, she is unable to fly commercially or be driven home to us in Hayward, California. Her only option is to be flown home via an air ambulance, where she would be under medical care, to the Kindred Hospital long-term care facility in San Leandro, California.

We are trying to raise money to pay for the air ambulance flight to get her home. We have been told that it will cost $26,000. This is not something that our family can afford, but we cannot bear to have our Nana stuck in Oklahoma any longer. She has been there with my Popi for over three weeks in two different hospitals. We need her home where all her friends and family can give her the love and support she needs to get better.
