From Washington, D.C. and graduating from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY, I am leading a service immersion project to New Orleans, LA.

Thanks for visiting my page!

I have created this fundraising page to help off set the costs of a two week service immersion project that I will be leading this summer through the Global Outreach program at Fordham University, where I am a senior. $60 sponsors me for one day of this project, but anyone who donates $5 or more will be sent a refrigerator magnet with our team logo that says "We Helped GO! NOLA Fight AIDS Stigma."

Through my Fordham career I have been involved with Global Outreach, as well as the service and justice department and campus ministry, to do service and immerse myself in social justice issues; learning about rural poverty in Appalachian Kentucky, volunteering at a Nursing Home in the Bronx for the last four years, and participating in Ignatian teach-ins and advocacy days.

The mission of Global Outreach has changed and shaped my life in many ways. The pillars of Global Outreach are Social Justice, Spirituality, Simple Living, and Community - and I have come to not only be passionate about them, but decide to further commit myself to them, as I plan to spend my next year after graduation working with the disadvantaged as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, which shares the same values. As I lead this Global Outreach project, I hope to be able to walk with my team as we realize what I did on my own first project: service and solidarity are not things reserved for short term immersion projects; they are a way of life.

This summer, along with the assistance of my chaperone, a young Fordham alumni who will be graduating from social work school, I will be leading a team of undergraduates as we work with and learn about people living with HIV/AIDS in New Orleans, LA. We will be working with an organization called Project Lazarus. Our team will be living at the facility and working with the residents there for the two weeks that we are in New Orleans.

As a college senior preparing for life after graduation and a year of volunteering, I cannot make this journey on my own -- any support you can give I would greatly appreciate! If you'd rather mail a check directly or if you want a tax-deductible receipt, you will be able to do so easily through the Global Outreach office rather than this website - please contact me at petersanneman @! :)

Thank you so much for your time and I'll be sure to keep you all updated on our journey!
