Please help our family & friends to raise money to help Joan with her traveling & chemo expenses and battle against lung and bladder cancer

Please help our family & friends to raise money to help Joan with her traveling expenses and battle against lung and bladder cancer.

Joan Beck has been a hard working wife and mother of three her entire life. She worked up until the age of 69 and continues to constantly work around the house and never sit still. She's one of the strongest, kindest women you could ever meet. Her husband, Ted is just the same. Unfortunately, Ted got hurt on a job site in 2007 and has been disabled ever since. They ended up having to sell their home of more than 25 years and relocate but they have thankfully met a lot of wonderful people and have started a new life.

However, within 4 years, they were both diagnosed with diabetes and then this past October, Joan had a major back surgery she is still recovering from on top of the news she received this April. She's a long time cancer survivor of 20 years but now will face it again. She just got diagnosed with bladder and lung cancer. She woke up one morning with surprising symptoms and had no idea. After rushed to the hospital, she was transported to Trinity Mother Francis and after spending 6 days there, they found two cancerous tumors in her bladder that were removed and then after more tests, they found small cell carcinoma in her lung. After this sudden, surprising news, the doctors told her she would undergo chemo for a month, 3 days a week and radiation 5 days a week for a little over 6 weeks at the same time; followed up by more treatment and surgery. Her treatment takes place an hour away from her home, which means she is doing a lot of traveling against her fight.

She is now halfway done with her radiation and chemo for the lung cancer but then will undergo another surgery on the bladder and chemo again, as well as radiation on her brain as a pre caution. With the high copayments of chemo that insurance may not cover and gas money driving two hours to get there and back; it will be taking a toll on her. She has been in and out of the hospital since she started. The last time she was in the hospital almost two weeks because her white blood cell count was at 0. She had a viral infection and struggled everyday she was there trying to build her immune system. She is going through a fight but the doctors are almost positive she will be cured if she gets through this. She will need all the support and prayers she can get. We are hoping to fundraise as much as we can to make this fight possible for her and her husband. We are currently working on a community garage sale and other fundraising for her.

With all of our support, she will gain a lot of positive reinforcement to fight and make it through this.
