The family and friends of April Rowe are uniting to raise money for her weight loss surgery in order to prepare for a spine fusion.

April has been suffering from debilitating back pain since the age of 15. She had her first back surgery at the age of 16. At that time, the doctors stated that she might become paralyzed someday and that her surgery was only temporary. They stated that her pain would come back ten-fold. This past summer 2011, April has recently started to feel an unimaginable amount of pain. She has been to numerous doctors including a pain management doctor, her general practitioner, and got the opinion of an orthopedic surgeon and a neurosurgeon. She has been going through rigorous back injections for months and has even tried physical therapy. The physical therapists recommended discontinuing physical therapy for it was doing more harm than good. The orthopedic surgeon and the neurosurgeon both suggested a spine fusion for her severe spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease. They stated that she is too overweight to have the back surgery. Unfortunately, April is unable to work out due to the severity of her pain. Both her surgeons suggested that she sought out other weight loss options.
At this time, April sought out the professional opinion of Dr. Elliot Fegelman. Where she found out that she was a candidate for a weight loss procedure named the gastric sleeve. April found out that her insurance would not cover any type of weight loss surgery due to a direct exclusion cause on her insurance. This procedure is over $15,000 and could be more with any complications with her surgery. She is scheduled for surgery on March 27, 2012. Due to the expensive cost of the gastric sleeve, we ask you to donate to her cause. Help April; get to a healthy stable weight and to be qualified for her spine surgery. Your donation will help her alleviate the debilitating pain that she has suffered and get the necessary surgeries that she needs. Thank you so much
