This is the Raymond B. DeLorenzo Memorial Fund. The funds will be used for medical costs not covered by insurance and funeral expenses.

My father lost his battle with cancer on April 7, 2012. He has left behind a wife of 45 years, 3 children and 10 grandchildren. My mother is now burdened with the funeral expenses and medical bills that keep coming in. We are asking for any help we can get - we can't do it alone....the last thing my mother needs to worry about right now is money - but it is a reality.

The pain and sorry runs deep. As I try to write this my eyes fill with tears. How do you sum up a wonderful man's life so people can understand? You really can't. But, I will do my best.

My father was a hardworking, loving man. He loved to garden and he loved life. He had a sweet spot specifically for babies, he could always make them laugh. He simply had a passion for just about everything. From building the house my family lives in, to collecting items to fix or refurbish so he could use them or sell them. He had a wonderful imagination and could create just about anything from what he had on hand.

He met my mother when she was 14 years old. They married when she was 18 years old. Not many people today have that sort of commitment to spend their entire lives together through good and bad times but they were devoted to each other until the end. He is the only man my mother has ever known and now he is gone. Torn from us by a terminal illness that he fought for 3 years with courage, bravery and patience.

I of course, as his daughter, will forever be grateful for knowing and loving him. No matter what life brought me, my dad was always there for me. Offering advice or just listening to me. I will never hear his voice or laughter again. I will never see that contagious smile that would light up a room. I will never hold his strong hand or hug him again. I am, however, slightly comforted knowing that he is in God's hands. And very grateful that he was chosen to be my dad.

I will miss my father every day for the rest of my life....

Please help us reach our goal so we can ease the financial burden left by my father's passing. We are ending this fundraiser on July 15th which would have been my father's 66th birthday.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.....with much gratitude, Melissa.

UPDATE;
Mom will be getting medical bills not covered by insurance for the next few months....so far, it is in the thousands. We have lowered the fundraising amount from 12k to 7k because of the generosity of others who have sent the money directly to my mother. (thank you all!!)

Dad would be happy, I got our garden in this year even though it is a bit late - with the vegetable seeds he gave me last year.....and his clematis seeds are already sprouting - a piece of Dad here with me in Michigan.

Olivia, my 2 year old daughter is doing well....adjusting to her routine. My Dad knew about her diagnosis 10 days before he passed because we were in the emergency room downstairs while he was in ICU upstairs... and he said she will be alright.....she is Dad, she is.
