My 8 year old mobility Service Dog has a disc problem in his back from years of seflessly assisting me and needs expensive surgery.

I am permanently disabled by an orthopedic injury after an accident - massive nerve damage to my neck and shoulder. The injury causes extrme pain, dizziness and loss of balance.

I rely upon a wonderful canine partner - Pilot. He is a mobility service dog and carries everything in his backpacks, acts as my cane and even pulls his own collapsible cart for shopping. He is one of only a handful of Service Dogs who can do more than 1 assistance task at a time.

Pilot is a Kuvasz - the only one of his breed in the US who is a Service Dog. After years of hard work, Pilot has developed a disc problem in his back - narrowed disc with bone spurs. He was just diagnosed on 5/16/2012.

My devoted partner is in intense pain and cries even when he just tries to roll over.

With this disc problem, he can no longer do his job. Worse yet, the disc can rupture at anytime and he will be paralyzed.

Without him, I will be housebound the vast majority of the time and unable to go to the library or even grocery shopping. WIthout him, my life narrows to my home.

He needs neurosurgery which will cost between $5500 -6000 to recover from the disc problem. The prognosis at this time is good - with the surgery, he will not only be sound and healthy but also able to resume his duties as a Service Dog.

Worst of all, being permanently and totally disabled means one is reduced to a limited income. This kind of surgery is very difficult for us to afford - and I can not bear to see him suffer but can not do without him or even think of having him destroyed at only 8 years old.

$5, 10, $20 - anything at all -would help so much in the effort to save this wonderful Kuvasz who does a job that less than 1% of all dogs can do.

Pilot and Ann thank all the angels who will be willing to help save this lovely Kuvasz who is her lifeline to the outside world..
