Diane Engberg is hoping to raise money to be able to just be able to pay her bills and taxes until she can find employment.

I was a happy wife and homemaker till Nov, 14, 2010. My husband Larry, passed away very suddenly after a catastrophic 5 week illness. On our 11th wedding anniversary, I held his memorial service.(He was cremated) So, 4 days after the service, on Christmas Day, our house burned down, while I was away. Our 2 dogs, 2 cats, and my son's 2 dogs that I was babysitting for him all perished in the fire. So, in the space of 6 weeks, I lost my soul mate, home, pets, income, health insurance, and almost all traces of my former life. Photos, clothes, books, furniture and all the makings of a 20 love story gone to ashes.

The week my husband had his 1st surgery and was on life support, our homeoweners insurance was due and understandably, I forgot to pay the premium. See where I am going with this? The house was not covered when it burned. So, I had to take what was left of my husbands retirement account and pay all the outstanding bills, funeral expenses, cleanup of the burned house(with its asbestos shingle exterior), and paying for the burned house mess to go away. Also, my husband did not leave a will, so I have that whole expense and experience to deal with. Needless to say, I am suffering from depression and complicated grief. I have not worked for 11 years, so it has been hard to find work. I have sold everything not nailed down(all my jewelry, husbands workshop, car and lots of other things) to have money to live on, but it goes so fast. i did have just enough to buy a small manufactored home. I cannot find work and I feel so desperate because all my bills are due as aree my property taxes. I know there are people who are much worse off than me, but that thought doesn't help.

His life insurance money would have been enough to live on if the house had not burned down.I hate asking for anything, but i need help. To let you know that we are not slackers, my husband was a professor of psycology and taught for 30 years. He was very intelligent and a leader in his field of animal behaviorism. Our house was paid for, and we had a good and happy life. It is breathtaking, how quickly your whole life can be taken from you.

I thank everyone who is able to help me see the light at the end of this tunnel. God bless you all and thank you.
