Victims of fire in need of support. Please help my family get back on their feet after their tragic loss yesterday (10/8/12).

As you may or may not know, my son Austen and his fiance, Cassie (who is with child), and her parents tragically lost their house and everything in it yesterday from an unexpected house fire.

Yesterday morning I received a call from my son explaing to me that his house was in flames. I immediately asked if everyone was okay. Luckily they were all at work, except for Brian (Cassie's step-dad). Due to Brian's unsuccessful efforts to extinguish the fire, he did suffer from some burns on his arms and hands. Thank God everyone is alive!

We don't often appreciate our modern conveniences until they are gone - like having a toothbrush to brush your teeth daily, or a fresh pair of socks and some shoes. They lost all of this - no food, clothes, pictures and memories that can never be replaced, etc. - except the clothes on their backs. They are not sure if anything will be salvageable.

As I informed people and posted this news on Facebook yesterday, I have received an overwhelming response from everyone with prayers and offers of assistance. Since Austen is in Missouri, I am in Washington, and family and friends are spread out all over the country. I decided to set up an account that people could make donations to for the benefit of Austen and family to get back on their feet.

The fundraising end date is very near, in an effort to get them assistance as soon as possible!

In times of tragedy, I am always amazed at the sense of community and willingness to help! We are humbled and extremely grateful for the sensational and selfless people in our lives! We love you all and cannot express enough appreciation for the kindness and graciousness everyone is showing!! May God bless you and yours as He has saved and blessed mine!!

A goal has been set as a requirement of this fundraiser website process, but we have no expectations. I wouldn't even know how to set a price on what they have lost; and appreciate even just the thoughts and prayers everyone has given!!
