Raising money for development projects in Uganda!

Hello! I am so excited to go to Uganda this summer to work through a Brigham Young University program with UNICEF, the World Bank, the UK's Department for International Development, and the Kenyan based technology innovator and development group, Ushahidi (http://www.ushahidi.com/).

The goal of the project is to determine the development success rate of aid groups in Uganda. Obviously, there are a lot of people trying to do good through development projects in Africa - a lot of money is being donated to aid groups. But until we know what really works, we might be doing more harm than good! I'm grateful to be a part of a project that is working to find the best solutions.

I'll also be working with Ugandan women who have experienced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Uganda has a history of conflict and civil war which has had a devastating effect on its people economically, socially, and emotionally. Our work with these women, who have been the victims of conflict, will help them create some stability in their lives.

This project will not only do a lot of good for the Ugandans we work with, but also for disadvantaged groups all over the world as our findings are applied to other development projects. Of course, I'm donating my time and paying my tuition. This is a great opportunity for you to make a difference for these people. Please forward this link to your friends and family. For those of you with blogs, check out the widget option on the left as well. Your contributions will help so much! Thank you!
