This is the Never Lose Heart Fund. I am raising money to help my mother finance her last hope in her fight with Interstitial Cystitis.

My mother, Karen Gebhard, has suffered from Interstitial Cystitis, a very painful and chronic bladder disease, her entire life. She has fought with incredible courage and strength to maintain a normal and healthy life that both my brother and I could admire. However, her fight is growing weary and losing motivation.

All of my life, I have watched my mother suffer and agonize over the pain she has to endure. With no cure, and little knowledge on the subject, her disease has become a black cloud in our family. From a young age, she has had multiple surgeries, countless prescriptions, new age treatments, counseling, and physical therapy. But, after 44 years, the pain remains the same inside and out.

With the lining of her bladder wall deteriorating, she is having to face the possibility of losing her bladder permanently and living with a permanent catheter.

Extensive research and endless prayers have defined my days, but I refuse to lose hope. My mom is everything to me- my best friend, my counselor, my guardian, my protector, my life. Watching her suffer is something I no longer have the ability to do.

I recently found a prescription drug called Elmiron. This medication is the first and only prescription drug approved by the FDA specifically for IC. With little side effects, a high approval rating, and lots of success stories, this drug could very well be the miracle my mom needs.

Due to numerous medical bills, my mom is in an extremely bad financial situation. So, when we discovered that it would cost my mom about $400 a month to take this medication, we were, of course, shocked and bewildered.

By participating in this fund, you will help give my mom a second chance at life. You will help me see my mom happy again...alive again. Your support can be our miracle.
