The Hansel family is hoping for an angel to help Missy the dog get back up on all four paws. Please help in any way you can. We thank you!

Missy is an amazing dog who has gone through more troubles than any dog should.

Missy was used as a breeding dog for the first three years of her life. After her backyard breeding owner was sent to prison, Missy ended up at a local Humane Society shelter, where she spent a year of her life lying on a slab of concrete, which is where I met Missy while working as Humane Educator for the Humane Society.

Since then, Missy has been a working dog, visiting local schools, senior homes, and community centers, helping to educate the community about the importance of responsible pet ownership and animal safety, and to encourage compassion and awareness for all animals.

A year ago at age seven, Missy was diagnosed with cancer and endured six months of rigorous Chemotherapy treatments in addition to the surgical removal of the tumor, which was wrapped around her toe and leg. She is now in remission.

Last week, Missy underwent a surgery to remove invasive tumors growing in her mouth. In the same week, Missy tore her ACL, completely. Now she can't walk, run, play, or even potty without discomfort or pain. It is likely her other knee will give out soon.

Missy has so many more years of educating young people, visiting our aging friends, and just generally helping the community in which she lives, ahead of her.

She has already made such an impact, visiting with thousands of people of all ages in our community. With your help, we can get Missy back out there, doing what she loves best.

Please consider helping Missy however you can. With another recently diagnosed epileptic dog, and a new baby in the family, we simply don't know where else to turn.
