Raising money to help cover the unexpected vet bill to save our English Mastiff named "THOR".

Thor is our 5 month old English Mastiff. This past Saturday January 14th his back left paw started to swell. By Sunday afternoon it had doubled in size so we rushed him to the vet. They said that he had an abscess and drew out a lot pinkish infection from his paw. They couldn't see where he had stepped on anything or had been bitten. They sent culture samples off to determine what the infection might be. They were able to say it was some form of streptococcus. They put him on pain medicine and antibiotics and sent him home. By the next morning, it had tripled in size and started moving up his leg. The vet recommended that we take him to NC State vet emergency hospital. When he arrived there, they started running tests and took an X-ray to see if he may have something stuck in his paw. The X-rays didn’t show any foreign body in his paw. They shaved his leg and found what looked like a puncture wound. They cleaned it and opened it up a little more to help it drain and gave him antibiotics via an IV. Today ,Tuesday 17th, the Vet thinks it may have been a brown recluse spider bite. The infection is continuing to move up his leg. It is causing tissue to die around the puncture wound. They are doing emergency surgery to put a tube in with continuous vacuum to try and remove the infection. It could be as long as Saturday before we know if it is working. They may have to do surgery tomorrow to remove the dead tissue. They are hoping they will get the cultures back from the lab in the next couple of days so they know what infection they are battling. They assure us they are doing everything possible to save him. The medical cost will be substantial but he is worth every bit of it. If you would like to help us with the medical cost, you can leave a donation of any amount. Anything will help! Please keep saying prayers for our boy. Some may say he is just a dog...but to us, he is a member of our family that we love so much!!
