Give for Gavin
This is the Gavin Swillie surgery fund. The Funds will be used for Gavin's medical costs and related expenses not covered by insurance.
On June 10th 2011 we found out that our first child was going to be a boy, we were so excited! A few moments later we found out that he would suffer from a cleft lip and palate. While we are still very excited about our new son, we are very frightened at the thought of what it means for him.
Two weeks after Gavin was born we visited the International Craniofacial Institute in Dallas. During our time there we were advised to have an orthodontic prosthesis made for Gavin, and because of that he has been able to keep a normal eating routine. We were also given stacks of information about the multiple surgeries that Gavin would have to undergo soon after birth. Though Gavin will be subject to plastic surgery, dental work, orthodontic procedures, and speech therapy until he is 18 years old, the most critical of all will take place within the first year. Starting March 6th of 2012 Gavin will begin his first stages of repair for his condition.
Gavin has a unilateral cleft lip and a bilateral cleft palate, meaning that there will at least be two major surgeries within the first year of his life. Our family is asking your help during this time. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by February 20th 2012. The costs of Gavin's treatment will exceed that, but we know that our goal amount will help us get started and God will provide the rest. Please keep Gavin in your thoughts and your prayers, we greatly appreciate your donation.
