This is the Linda Story Lung Transplant Fund. The funds will be used for Linda's medical costs and related expenses.

Hello.. I am trying desperately to raise money for a Single Lung transplant for my the love of my life Linda Story. Linda was diagnosed with COPD in February 2011 and only has 47% use of one lung at this time and the other lung does not work at all. Linda is 51 years young and is a fighter and has much life left to live and is not ready to give up. Her Dr has said she is eligible for a single lung transplant, which would give her, her life back.

Linda and I are both on Social Security Disability. Linda is not eligible for medicare insurance until May of 2013. Linda will probably not live long enough to get Medicare insurance to cover a lung transplant. And this is why I'm desperately asking for everyone's help and donations so my wife will be able to live and enjoy many more years to come. It took Linda and I 43 years to find one another and the thought of losing her anytime in the near future brings me to my knees begging the good Lord up above to find a way to give my wife Linda new Lungs and let her live and enjoy the love and life we have waited so long for. I myself had a stroke on April 1st, 2009 and we did not have insurance then either. But the love of my life Linda did everything for me to help me recover to the point I am today, now able to walk and talk and care for myself. This selfless woman gave up everything to make sure I was ok when she herself, indeed was not well and had been diagnosed with Emphysema a few years before this time. But she put herself aside to care for me and make sure I was ok. Exactly two years from the day I had my stroke Linda was put on oxygen indefinitely unless she gets a lung transplant. The costs alone of just her medications is $1300 a month and that with some patient assistance from the drug companies. We do not have private health insurance, we are over the limits to get any kind of state medical programs and Linda can not get her medicare until May of 2013. The total cost of a lung transplant includes several types of expenses, such as diagnostic tests, the costs of procuring and transporting donor organs, fees for the surgeon and the anesthesiologist, pre- and post-operative hospital care (including time spent in the intensive care unit, or ICU), and fees for prescription drugs. For example, the total cost of a single-lung transplant includes about $20,000 in evaluation fees, $41,000 to obtain and prepare a donor lung, $33,000 in physician's fees and $210,000 for the cost of the hospital stay. It also includes about $65,000 for follow-up care and $30,000 for immunosuppressive medications. All of these expenses may vary according to the particular medical provider, and the length of the hospital stay. This total is approximately $400,000. Any money raised from the fund raiser will go directly to pay the costs of the surgery and medical care that will be required to give Linda a new life with a new lung.

We're hoping to ease the financial burden that Linda and her family are facing, and will continue to face in the years to come. Please join us, and give as generously as possible.
