The community is uniting to raise money for 10 year old Nate Lowell who has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

Nate, who is 10 years old, was recently taken to the hospital with what was believed to be allergy-induced asthma. However, after medications failed, Nate returned to the hospital and was admitted with what doctors determined to be full-blown, right-lobe pneumonia. During Nate’s overnight stay at St. Luke’s hospital of Utica, doctors became increasingly concerned that the treatments normally used to alleviate symptoms of pneumonia were having little effect and Nate was beginning to have serious breathing difficulties. Specialists were called and it was quickly determined that, because of Nate’s deteriorating condition, he should be transferred immediately to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse. After various tests, Nate was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma (cancer), which has caused lymph nodes in his neck, chest, and stomach enlarge. It is likely that Nate will need to undergo chemotherapy treatments once per week for the next eight months to a year. This means that Nate and his parents, Melissa and Jimmy Lowell, will be commuting from their home in Newport to Golisano Children’s Hospital at least once per week for treatment. As you can imagine, this experience has placed a tremendous amount of stress on Nate and his family. A benefit is currently being organized to help this family. Every donation can make a difference for Nate and his family - big or small.
