The family of Kamala Simons are raising money to help with her battle against cancer. Please show your support!!

At the young age of 29, Kamala was diagnosed with a rare cancer called leiomyosarcoma, which is a soft tissue cancer that develops in the supporting or connective tissues of the body, such as muscle, fat, nerves, blood vessels, bone and cartilage, the womb (uterus), and the limbs.

The tumor was detected in her uterus and has been classified as high grade and agressive. She has a very good doctor at the Brigham and Womens Hospital / Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston who has advised surgery as the primary therapy and will determine any further treatment after surgery (ie radiation and chemotherapy)

As you can imagine, this unexpected family crisis will take quite a toll on Kamala, emotionally and financially. Kamala has not been working at her job long enough to qualify for adequate paid leave which would allow her to continue to receive a pay check to cover many crucial medical and personal expenses, while she is unable to work for a period of 3-6 months. Currently her family depends on her income only, since her husband recently lost his job due to the downturn of the economy.

We don't know what the total expenses will be - but we felt we had to get something started to alleviate the stress on Kamala so that she can focus all of her energy and strength on winning this battle!

Kamala is a strong woman. If you know her, you know she is a bag of smiles, giggles and laughs! She is independent, smart, funny, and tough as nails. She has the spirit to fight her cancer, but needs everyone’s help to win!

All your generous contributions are deeply appreciated- anything you can give will help!

If you have any questions, or suggestions or just need to contact a representative for the family please call Shirlene Simons (Kamala's Mom) or e-mail at

We can't change this disease, but we can change how she fights it! Thank you all for your donations, support and most importantly prayers. We do believe in miracles and we pray for one each day.
