This is the Seopaul Raghunanan kidney Transplant fund, The funds will be used for Seopauls medical costs and related expenses.

As many of you know my dad has been a diabetic for the past 30 years along with high blood pressure. With the struggles of keeping healthy he has now gone into stage 5 kidney failure. We were all shocked and heartbroken when we heard that he was in stage 5 because we know that the next step was dialysis. That was something we were not prepared for at all and I am sure he was not expecting. In meeting with the renal doctors, they pointed us in the direction of a possible kidney transplant. After meeting with the transplant team they said the best thing would be a kidney transplant because the quality of life would be greater and he would live longer. I did not know this but when you are a diabetic and on dialysis your life expectancy is limited to 1 to 2 years. When we heard this, we thought to ourselves he is not done living. So, after numerous tests my sister Theresa is the perfect match for his kidney. He has been on a special diet to make sure his kidneys do not go into total failure. Now that my dad understands more about the effects of diabetes and his high blood pressure, he wishes he could turn back time and do things differently. Because that’s not possible, he hopes to tell others about the importance of eating the right foods and leading an active, healthy lifestyle. He looks forward to receiving his transplant so he can spend more time with his family and friends and dreams of seeing all his grandchildren grow up. He is hanging on so far and has lost 30 lbs and we have to keep him in that direction until June 28, 2012 which is his surgery date. All this is happy news but his only insurance is medicare and gratefully they pay 80% but my dad has a 20% copay. A kidney transplant costs approximately $250,000. Even with Medicare, my dad faces significant expenses related to his transplant. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of his post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. The money that will be raised would help pay for his medical costs and related expenses. We are so blessed to receive a kidney and donating to his cause would be much more of a blessing to us and my dad.Your gift in the form of donations is necessary for this much needed operation to occur, and is appreciated in the highest regard i could ever express. Thank you.
