Can you put yourself in another's shoes? Watching a loved one suffer leaves a helpless feeling deep in your gut. But there is strength in numbers!!!
Please take a moment and read Tina’s story:
In March 2011, an up-beat, fun-loving, engaged 31 year old noticed a lump in her cheek, and then another. By the end of May it was revealed that she had Stage 3 Melanoma. Surgery in June removed her Parotid Gland and 80 lymph nodes of which one was malignant. She then endured radiation in July, 5 days a week for a month. After 3 weeks of recovery she started an IV treatment 5 days a week for another month which was followed by shots 3 days a week for what was supposed to last a year. 6 months into her shots her treatments have stopped. Just one year after her initial diagnosis a bone scan in March and PET scan in April, plus a biopsy of her vertebrae have confirmed the melanoma has spread to her spine. Not to mention the numerous other tests, doctor visits and countless trips to the hospital made within that year. Tina now has Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.
Tina has always been full of life. Her infectious smile lights up a room. She is a bright light in all the lives she touches. She is selfless, courageous and a true inspiration. Tina loves Auto Cross racing, watching soccer, trips to the West Side Market, the Zoo, Little Italy and going to the dog park with her dogs Indie and Diesel. Tina longs to be outside and active.
Tina is fortunate to have people who love and support her. Her fiancé Eric and she have been together 8 yrs. They and Eric’s son Brian, 14 (her favorite soccer player) have become a family and made a loving home in Akron since 2007. Their original wedding date for February 2012 has been postponed. Tina’s parents, Eric’s parents, Brian and her extended family and friends are there to help get them through the emotional ups and downs each day unfolds.
Tina has been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1998. She has worked very hard to establish a loyal clientele. She has been associated with Regis’, David Scott Salon Spa and is currently with Dino Palmieri in Strongsville, Ohio and an educator with Alterna Professional Haircare. She is devoted to her clients yet her treatments have at times drained her of her energy and ability to earn a living.
And now her most aggressive treatment is to start shortly making it impossible for her to work. Unfortunately the day to day payments plus hospital and doctor bills are mounting. What better way to help than to shoulder some of their financial burden. Please help make it possible for Tina’s recovery to be their main focus. Stand up and be counted! No one can do everything….but everyone can do something! There is strength in numbers!
Remember… Empathy is the secret of survival. Because life is not fair and love is almost impossible unless you can put yourself in another’s shoes.
Her journey of faith, hope and love….Take a step with Tina!
