The family of Sue Ward (Hall) are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against Lyme disease.

Hi Family and Friends,

I know a lot of you have been wondering what happened to my sister Sue and where she is. For almost 2 years now she has been very ill with relentless pain in all of her muscles, joints, nerves and bones. The pain is widespread and excruciating. She is also dealing with overwhelming fatigue along with serious sleep depravation, as well as chronic migraines 2-3 times a week that last from 24-75 hours each.

She has seen countless Doctors and specialists and has been seeking answers to these health issues to no avail. They have done numerous, painful tests, x-rays, MRI's and bone scans and still no answers. Sue has digressed to the point where most days she is bed ridden, unable to work or take care of her family. She needs assistance to do any housework, cooking or errands as well as someone to drive her to appointments because her mental clarity has been compromised. Sue has issues with focus, concentration, short term memory loss, extreme muscle weakness and limited mobility.

Finally, a Rheumatologist said he believed she had all the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFIDS) and Fibromyalgia, however test results had consistently shown an infection that could not be identified. After doing research on the internet my sister was able to find a treatment center specifically for CFIDS and Fibromyalgia but the closest center is in Stamford, CT just outside of NY City. They do NOT accept any form of Insurance and their treatment programs have to be paid for in advance.

Sue had her initial appointment with the Doctor there and he told her he felt she would be an excellent candidate for their program. After many additional tests, we got the real answers and so her treatments began. Along with the two other diagnosis from the previous Doctors it was discovered that Sue also has Chronic (late stage) Lyme Disease. This is an insidious and evil disease that hides and mimics other diseases while it continues to attack the muscles and organs and causes Nervous system Dysfunction. It is extremely hard to treat. Fortunately, this center also deals with and treats Lyme disease.

Now that we know the monster we are dealing with we have to attack it and fast. Sue will need to go to the center once, if not twice, a month for IV treatments and various alternative therapies. She is also on a strong antibiotic 3 times a day that she may need to take for 12 months or more. We are all praying that the oral antibiotics work if not, she will be faced with daily IV antibiotics.

She has been out of work for almost 2 years and has not received any income herself for 13 months which has caused a serious financial strain. Her fiance' Eric has been working and paying for all their day to day living expenses, but going from a two income household to one has been hard enough without having the additional expense for medical treatments, medications, and travel expenses to get her to and from the treatment center.

Sue started the program on 2/06/2012 and will need a minimum of 12 months treatment from this center to even begin to get her life back. Our immediate family has been doing everything we can to help her however, at this point we need to reach out and ask for help. We know these are difficult times for everyone but we would greatly appreciate anything you are able to give in assisting us with this huge goal of $20,000.

This disease is very dibilitating and has stripped my sister of her life. The Sue we all know and love is not the Sue here with us today. She now struggles minute by minute to endure the pain and inability to participate in life. We know we have a long road ahead of us, since there is no gurantee of a cure, but with everyone's support, this will give her the best chance of having an improved quality of life.

Sue would like nothing more than to become an active, participating member of society and to be able to enjoy the little things in life like watching her niece and nephew grow up. We are confident that with both financial and emotional support along with the knowledge of the Doctors at this treatment center, over time she will recover and return to the happy, healthy, thoughtful, caring, giving and compassionate Sue we all knew.

There are no words to describe how much we appreciate all of you as family and friends. Anything you can do to support Sue either financially or in the form of encouraging words would be appreciated.

Feel free to repost or tweet this link, or to send to family and friends who you think would be interested in helping or would just like to know what happened to Sue and where she is today.

It is very important to Sue that as much information as possible gets out about this horrific disease.
