My father was diagnosed w/ an advanced stage of Liver Cancer. We're from the Philippines and would like to seek support for the medication..

My father had been diagnosed with Liver Cancer (Hepatoma) just last June 2012. He has started taking Nexavar (Sorafenib) early this July as prescribed by his Oncologist.

We are from the Philippines, and our country doesn't have any medical insurance similar to western countries (i.e. US, Australia, etc.). Which means, medical cost are normally paid by every Filipino / Filipina from his / her own pocket (unless he / she works for a company who includes dependents and parents for a comprehensive medical plan).

My father, prior to this illness, has been battling Diabetes (for the last so many years) and Prostate Cancer as well. He's been diligently taking Insulin injections (oral insulin wasn't sufficient anymore).

Though most of us have our own family as well, we are all doing our best to give whatever we can... but our resources can only be so much...

The cost of this Nexavar medicine is roughly USD3,600 per box and my father will initially be needing 4 boxes (@2-4 tablets/day depending on side effects) - each box contains 60 tablets... And honestly, we've barely managed to purchase the first box... through various personal loans and supports as well from relatives (thank you too). But aside from this, he still has other medications that needs to be taken cared off (for his diabetes, prostate cancer) as well as various laboratory tests every now and then to monitor his hepatoma.

The funds above will be for purchasing the rest of the initial Nexavar boxes needed plus laboratories and emergencey hospital expenses related to this. Additionaly, for the ongoing medicines that he needs to take for his diabetes and prostate cancer.

We've been searching since then for additional assistance that we could find... Any amount of donation would be highly appreciated. It has been a tough year but I believe it was never easy for him already even prior to this diagnosis... We're all still looking forward to that moment that he'll be able to enjoy his golden years together with my mother. That's what we've always just wished for them.. We need all the support we can get... Please help us help our father.
