Dan Dexter Memorial Gifts

We are all shocked to learn that our dear friend Dan died in a home accident the first of this week while his partner Jeanne was at her new job in Lexington.
It is difficult to imagine the pain Jeanne must be going through.  Now she also must cope with the many unexpected expenses that come with burial, legal affairs, and, not least, missing work.
Dan and Jeanne have been good friends of our community for many years.  Many of us know how caring and giving they have been to all those around them.  Although many of us are struggling during these uncertain times, no gift is too small, if given in love.
Let's help Jeanne through this sad time with a gift in memory and in honor of the wonderful man that Dan was.
We will update this site soon with a short bio of Dan (see below).  For now, here is a tribute from the poems of William Johnson Cory:
They told me, Heraclitus, they told me you were dead;
They brought me bitter news to hear and bitter tears to shed;
I wept, as I remembered, how often you and I
Had tired the sun with talking, and sent him down the sky.
And now that thou art lying, my dear old Carian guest,
A handful of grey ashes, long, long ago at rest,
Still are thy pleasant voices, thy nightingales, awake;
For Death, he taketh all away, but them he cannot take.
Here is more about Dan, from an introduction when he spoke recently.
Born in Pasadena, CA, and raised in Peoria, Il, before coming to our beautiful South, Dan began his career as a journalist in the Washington, D.C. area. As a writer, he has had over 50 articles printed in a variety of publications.
He has been a college instructor as well as president of three corporations and a founding director of New Horizons Inc., a new age educational charity.
He has been a member of The Institute for Shamanic Studies, the Monroe Institute, the Association to Advance Ethical Hypnosis, The Theosophical Society in America, Huna Research Associates, the National Speakers Association, and is an ex-officio director of the prestigious Institute for American Research. He is also a member of MENSA, the high-I.Q. society.
Dan has taught classes on metaphysics in the last thirty+ years and has spoken before a variety of audiences nationwide. He has appeared on radio and TV on a variety of programs. He has also coordinated and led Seminars on self-confidence through firewalking.
His interest in metaphysical topics has spanned decades of wide experience and study. He abandoned corporate life years ago to retire and pursue what is important in life. He lives in a trailer in SC with his dog and 5000 books.
And he counts himself fortunate to have had both his beloved Jeanne Ashley and Hawaiian Kahuna Arii Peu Tama Iti* as friends and teachers on the path.
