We've all been missing Katie terribly since she left for the Peace Corps last year.

Some of us got to talking about chipping in for a plane ticket to bring her home for a visit. If we all give a litte we can make it happen - let's do it!

As you all know, Katie departed on September 2nd 2009 to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer.  She has been assigned to a teeny tiny island in Micronesia called Mokil.  There, she lives with a wonderful host family comprised of dad (Deedor), mom (Rebecca), 10-year old Kurt (named for Kirk Hammett of Metallica), 7-year-old TommyLee (named after the Motley Crue drummer), and 3-year-old Deedora who is named after her dad.  Deedora usually goes by PwoPwo, which means "little girl" in Mokillese and she is Katie's best friend.  The picture featured on this page is of our girl and PwoPwo.  Kate judges her language skills by the level of conversation she is able to have with her 3-year-old BFF.  After having known her for 27 years, I can't tell you how bizarre it is to hear my sister speaking a different language!!

While Katie is having this once-in-a-lifetime experience, the United States is just not the same without her.  I don't know about you, but I don't want to go another 15 months without seeing her!  Some of us started thinking that if we each chipped in a little, we might be able to make it happen.  Over the next few months, we will be planning fund raising events as well as collecting donations on this page.  If we are able to raise this money, Kate will take the 30 hour flight back to New Jersey in June and stay for a full month.  Depending how successful our fundraisers are, she is also going to plan a side-trip to Florida while she is in the States.  You Floridians really made her part of your family over the past few years and she would love to be able to see you!

PLEASE forward this page along to anyone else you think might want to help out.  Thank you all for being such a wonderful support system for my sister while she is so far away.  She is lucky to have you.
