Study Abroad in Spain

I am an active junior attending college at St. Thomas University in Florida. I am originally from New York and attended a college preparatory school named Cristo Rey New York High School in Spanish Harlem. In May 2013, I will be graduating with a major in psychology and minor communication’s. This semester I am pretty busy with being the Treasurer of the Psychology Club along with being a student ambassador. I recently became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. The mission of the NSLS is to build leaders who make a better world, through helping me discover and reach my goals as well as attend life changing lectures and community services. I am taking 5 courses this semester which fall in the fields of Communication, Psychology, and Science.
The reason for this fundraiser website is to raise money for me to go to Spain with the school I’m attending, St. Thomas University, this summer. The study abroad trip will take place from June 25, 2012 to August 3, 2012. I am looking forward to going to Spain to get in touch with my Hispanic roots being that I’m Puerto Rican/Cuban; I will like to enhance my Spanish vocabulary. I will be studying abroad in the Guadarrama Mountains in the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which is one of the finest centers of study in Europe. It is currently an official Royal Residence and a University. El Escorial is a beautiful town that is filled with museums, shops and cafes. The classes that are being offered are Political History of Spain, Global Media, and Multicultural Issues in Psychology. The funds I receive will cover the plane ticket, food, and living expenses. I am the youngest of four and I have never been out of the United States; this will be my first. Studying abroad will allow me to be more knowledgeable about a different country first-hand. Studying abroad will strengthen my values and embrace new perceptions. This is a great opportunity that my university offers for me and I cannot hold back. Please help me get to Spain! Your generosity will help no matter what whether it’s a $1 to $5 dollars any amount will be greatly appreciated.

I will have an online blog with me during my studies in Spain this summer. I will post the link later on this Spring. When I come back from Spain I will write a report sharing my experience and knowledge along with a slideshow of pictures. Many Blessing's to you!
