Lover and helper of all creatures great and small having trouble now helping his own.

I adopted Tacoma when he was one year old. He is an 8 year old beautiful black Labrador Retriever who was headed to the pound. I had my reservations about taking him in as I already had one dog. Once I made that decision, I made an unspoken promise to care for him forever.
In February Tacoma had cruciate surgery. For his rehab I took him to our local univesity's small animal teaching hospital. They have a wonderful rehab program.
After three days there, doctors discovered he had a nerve issue that would not allow them to move forward with therapy. We then had neurology exams, ultrasounds and MRI's done. Biopsies were done on suspicious looking areas of his leg.
After four anesthesias, alot of cutting and poking, four weeks away from home, missed work and well over $5,000.00 spent, some of the best veterinary minds are recommending amputation of the leg. We all agree Tacoma can live a happy life for alot of years with this surgery.
Tacoma is a wonderful, happy and loving dog. I call him my "Big Sweetie". We have had so many ups and downs throughout all of this and I have gone from being virtually debt free to owing three years of loan payments for his vet. costs. This includes $2500.00 from Care Credit, $1,000.00 from my bank, and a 1,000.00 high interest loan through Springleaf Financial.
We are so close to getting him home healthy now, yet our funds have dried up. I am asking for help as I cannot live with myself for not trying everything possible to help Tacoma. He doesn't deserve to suffer because I cannot find any more funding.
Tacoma is a beautiful dog. He is energetic, loving, and in perfect health except for his leg.
His loss would be such an unnecessary waste.
