This is my Mother, Debie Taft (Arellano)'s, Funeral Cost Fundraiser. Please help us raise this much need money. Please show your support!

WE are the surviving family of Deborah Taft (Arellano). 6/16/58 - 7/2/12

My Mother, Debie, tragically died in Santa Monica, CA early Monday morning after being struck by a 65 year old man driving a van around approx. 10:30pm Sunday night (July 1st) at the crosswalk intersection of Lincoln Blvd. & Ashland Ave. in the heart of Santa Monica. She sustained major head injuries and was transported to a local trauma center with massive brain damage. The team at UCLA medical center worked on her through the night until she was stable. Around 9am she slipped into a coma where she later succumb to her injuries.

My Mother was born and raised near Santa Monica most of her early life and she was very familiar with these crosswalks so we as a family, have to pray that this was an accident. We have not been told very much from the investigators (contact Det. Jason Olson of the SMPD with any information) but we do know that the driver was sighted for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk with the right of way. Other than that, we know nothing. Nothing about the driver, not a name or address or even if he has insurance. This was very unexpected for myself and my 2 sisters, mentally and financially. My Mother was living with myself and my 2 children and helping to pay rent and utilities.

Our Mother just turned 54 years old last month so this was a true shock. I am a single Mother myself age 32 and my sisters, ages 30 and 24, both live in AZ and attend school. We were hit very hard with the unexpected funeral costs. We are looking into getting an attorney but since there is an ongoing investigation, we as the remaining family have to pay all the costs out of pocket. I set this fundraiser up to ask for help. That is all. Even if its only a dollar....we thank you!

God Bless you and yours
