Help support Gary as he slowly recovers from a devastating spinal injury.

On October 9, 2013 my son was in a horrible car wreck that left him quadriplegic.

My son Gary is one of the most helpful young men I have ever known. He is always helping his friends in any way that he can, which includes financially, by listening to them when they need someone to talk to, by supporting their ideas, etc.

On October 8 Gary saw a post on Facebook by one of his friends who was struggling and had just ended a relationship, as always Gary responded, "what can I do to help" which prompted his friend coming and picking him up. On October 9, 2013, 2 days before his 22nd birthday, at approximately 6:00 am the next morning, Gary was in an accident that rendered him unable to move his body from the neck down. I was notified at noon on the same day and this was truly the worst day of my life. The next worst day of my life was when they woke him up in the hospital and told him about his injuries and gave a brief overview of his future.

His road has been a huge challenge so far emotionally, and we are sure physically as well as he struggles to breathe on his own again. We are praying that he is able to talk again (he cannot due to the tracheotomy) and eat through his mouth. The Dr's are hopeful that he may one day regain some functionality in his upper body.

Honestly this is his story, it has merely affected the rest of the family. I say this in an effort to allow him the time to get a sense of recovery under his belt so that he can share this tragedy with everyone who wants to hear it.

Medical equipment, supplies and everything needed to take care of him when we finally get to bring him home is going to be a tremendous financial hardship. We humbly ask for support from anyone willing.

We know we are in need of handicap equipped vehicle/van, and remodeling our house to accommodate is a must.
