The family and friends of Terry Colson are raising funds to help with the medical costs of her treatment of Multiple Myeloma

Terry is a daughter, a sister, a loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted wife. Before being laid off, she had worked for the same company since she was 16 years old – starting in the filing room and working her way up to VP status. After being laid off, she went back to school to earn her Masters Degree, but due to the tough economic times she has been unable to find an equivalent position or a position that provided benefits. Terry has always been willing to give all that she had to help others, and it is our prayer that others will now find the kindness to give to her in her time of need.
Here is her story:
Terry recently was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called multiple myeloma. It is a blood cancer, related to leukemia and lymphoma, that attacks the bone marrow. She was diagnosed as having the cancerous cells in June, 2010, but was told that she had nothing to worry about at this time because it was inactive and causing no harm. However, in December, Terry began having intense back pain, and was told that the cancer had become fully active just that quickly. The doctors were shocked. They said they had never seen a case of multiple myeloma that had changed stages so drastically or so rapidly.
In Terry's case, the cancer has weakened her spine, causing two compression fractures of her vertebrae. They also discovered a tumor in her ribcage that has tentacles wrapped around her spine, worsening the condition.
The good news is that this form of cancer is highly treatable and has a very high survivability rate. However, Terry does not have any health insurance coverage at this time. At this point, she has filed to see if she can get government assistance for any of the costs of her health needs, but has not yet received a response.
She is currently undergoing an estimated 4-5 month regimen of chemotherapy. The doctor has stated that the next step in the treatment process would be a bone marrow transplant, which is estimated to cost several hundred thousand dollars and is not covered by insurance.
We understand that many have fallen on hard times recently, and it is hard to give when we do not have much excess to share. If you are able, please donate what you can. Although one donation of $5.00 may not seem like a lot, it truly adds up in the end and can make all the difference.
Please feel free to share this information and/or website with anyone you think might be interested. Please come back later and check the update tab for additional information.
Terry and her family would like to thank you for your positive thoughts and prayers, as well as any financial support you feel able to give.
