The Casano family is uniting to help raise money in the fight against Andrew's kidney cancer.

Let's BEAT kidney cancer!
Andrew was diagnosed with Stage II Kidney Cancer after experiencing gross hematuria following heavy spring yard work in April 2010. A follow-up CT scan showed a prominent renal mass in his right kidney (about 3”). The prescription called for a radical nephrectomy (removal of his kidney). A biopsy of the mass showed that 5% of the tumor’s cells were sarcomatoid or aggressive. However, because the tumor was contained within the kidney and there was no evidence of metastasis, no further treatment was required. Andrew was greatly relieved to have caught the disease at such an early point and was grateful for a second chance to have a full and healthy life.

In December 2011, pain in his right hip directed him to the emergency room and subsequent scans delivered some devastating news. The cancer had metastasized to his bone, lymph nodes, and lung, now qualifying the disease as Stage IV. Up until recently there has not been an effective treatment for renal cell carcinoma. Within the past few years drugs trials have produced encouraging results. Andrew is currently in a trial for the drug Sutent with the Fox Chase Cancer Center in PA. He is following an Alkaline diet and employing guided imagery as adjunct therapies. We remain hopeful that he will beat the odds.

Andrew is the father of two terrific boys, Robert 13 and Andrew 10. Since the diagnosis in January, persistent pain in his hip and back prevent Andrew from going to work. Due to the nature of this illness and pressure to maintain the wellbeing of his family, Andrew is under a lot of financial stress. Medical bills have drained his family both mentally and financially. Andrew is in the battle of his life right now and financial stress is a worry we would like to spare him.
Thank you all for your donations large and small. Your love, support and prayers are the greatest blessing. We do believe in miracles and we pray for one each day.
God Bless you.
