A New Fight for Sami
Help Sami fight ALL by giving her family peace of mind that financial issues will not be a burden.
Samantha - Sami to all who love her, was born 4 weeks early in April 2007. Her parents knew she had Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) and would require open heart surgery to correct a valve defect - a common condition with DS. At 5 weeks old she had the surgery and was home less than 2 weeks later. The last 4 years have been normal. No health problems, attending pre-school. And then as Sami was playing on her school playground just before dismissal on February 23, 2012 her teacher noticed she was acting strange. Suddenly, Sami went limp. In the ambulance Sami's pulse ox reading was 80. Could something be wrong with her heart? The preliminary examination and blood tests showed something the family never expected - leukemia, The bone marrow tap the next day confirmed our loving, happy, sunshine had pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Her current treatment plan is 4 weeks in the hospital and 8 months of intensive out patient chemo followed by another 18 months of maintenance treatments. Her mommy (Sherry) is planning to spend every minute with her while her dad (Jimmy) tries to keep a normal life for her BFF's , 5 year old sister Marli and big sis Marrisa (a high school senior). They are concerned how they are going to meet their every day expenses with just one income now, not to mention the extra expense of daddy and sisters traveling to the hospital daily to visit in the evenings. Your financial gift will help ease their worry and your prayers will give them strength and comfort.
