The family of Milo are humbly asking for your support to raise money to help with vet bills from a life saving emergency surgery.

Milo or Egg Head to those that know him is our 10 year old half Australian Sheppard and half Border Collie. On Saturday (3/13/11) he stopped eating and drinking, was vomiting constantly, weak, unresponsive, and was seemingly on his deathbed. With tears in our eyes, we sadly said our goodbyes as we thought it would be the end for the great Milo. Much to our delight, Milo didn’t give up and we were able to get him to the Veterinarian’s office before the unknown sickness took him. Before long it was discovered that Milo had an obstruction in his intestines and would require emergency surgery. There was absolutely no question in our mind that we would be there for our Milo like he had been there for us countless times since first becoming a part of our family at 9 weeks old. Like many before us, not quitting on our friend resulted in a hefty bill for the surgery that saved his life.

Like most Americans in these tough economic times, we didn’t have the cash on hand to pay for these services and had to turn to credit to save Milo’s life. We are trying everything and anything to help with his bills. We have applied for numerous pet grants and are at this very moment baking chocolate chip cookies for a last minute bake sale to be held in our home of Orange, CA.

Even though the surgery was a success, Milo is still suffering from Pancreatitis and is too weak to eat which requires him to remain on IV fluids at the Veterinary office until further notice. All of us have been taught that it never hurts to ask, so with that, we ask of you, to please help if you can. If you can’t help, please spread the word in the hope that someone else can. Everything counts and makes a huge difference. Thank you very much for your time. And remember to always GIVE FORWARD.

UPDATE: We are so happy to report that Milo came home this evening (3/16/11). Per doctor's orders, he will need to stay indoors at all times with his protective head cone on for 21 days due to complications possibly related to Cushing's disease (lab work is still pending). He is slowly getting back to being the old Milo and just enjoyed a little bit of chicken breast before he went to bed. Thank you so much to all of you that have donated and shared the site with others.
