The Tonne Family has been struggling to get by for as long as I have known them. Amanda is an outstanding Mom of 5 kids; Lexi who is 11, Kenzie - 6, Ava - 4, Liam - 3, and Ryan - 15 months

Each one of Amanda's kids has medical needs that she has to attend to on a daily basis. Because of these needs, Amanda and her mother, Nancy, are both currently unemployed. Amanda receives assistance from the
state. Amanda’s father, Bill, and her sister Annie are part of the Pipefitter's union. Annie was able to save up money to buy Amanda a van, so she is able to drive the kids to school, practice, family events...etc.

Nancy is not only a survivor a breast cancer but also faces a degenerative disc disease. Bill caught early signs of a brain aneurysm about seven years ago but suffers from a torn Achilles tendon, making it very painful to walk. He also needs knee and shoulder surgery, but that would put him out of work for 19 months; an amount of time the Tonne’s cannot afford. Both of Amanda's parents are outstanding people. They go above and beyond to help their daughters and grandchildren no matter the situation. They sacrifice so much to make their family happy.

Amanda and her children live with her parents in a 3-bedroom house.
Back in 1993, the Tonne family tried repairing their roof. There was a horrible storm that happened at the same time of the repair, only adding to the original damage. The roof collapsed, creating extreme water damage inside the whole house. It took them seven months to rebuild everything. The night it happened was the same night their home insurance expired - so it was not covered.

Amanda's youngest daughter, Ava was recently diagnosed with stage 3 (possibly 4) Neuroblastoma. It's a cancer that attacks your nerves and tissue. Her risk is medium to high. They are waiting on results from the bone marrow test to see where to go next. Ava starts chemotherapy right after Thanksgiving. The cancer's location is next to her aorta (abdomen), so they cannot perform surgery.
My family visited Ava & their family yesterday. I could not hold back my emotions. The Tonne Family amazes me. I don't know how they get by day in and day out. We need to get as many people as possible to be a part of this journey.

I want them to meet Ellen DeGeneres and Ty Pennington to get them an Extreme Home Makeover. This extraordinary family needs to be recognized!
