We would like to raise $8,000 for this family in their time of great sorrow and financial need. We appreciate any donation you may give.

On Friday, October 15, 2010 Zachary Noah Mathews was born @ 4:02PM and died @ 5:44PM. He weighed 3lb and 14oz and was 14 in long. He was diagnosed with Potter's Syndrome while still in his mother's womb. We were able to spend one hour and 44 min with this tiny little angel. Even in the short time he was here with us, he made such a big impact on our lives and will forever be in our hearts.

Potter's Syndrome

Potter's syndrome is one of several serious or fatal kidney abnormalities. In Potter's syndrome the baby's kidneys do not develop in the first few weeks of life in the womb. The baby's kidneys are essential for the production of amniotic fluid in the womb. If there are no kidneys, there is little or no amniotic fluid to expand the womb around the baby and allow the baby to grow and move. The womb remains small and in its confined space the baby's lungs cannot develop properly. Many babies with Potter's syndrome are stillborn. In those who are born alive, the immediate cause of death is failure to breathe due to underdeveloped lungs, usually one or two days (at the most)after delivery. Even if the problem is treated the baby cannot survive without kidneys.

We would like to ease the pain and suffering of this family by helping to ease the medical expenses (C-Section) and the funeral costs.
