The family and friends of Enoch Acheampong are uniting to raise money to pay for cataract surgery in both of his eyes.

I met Enoch 3 years ago in Accra, Ghana when I was on Semester at Sea. We became fast friends and have stayed in touch pretty regularly over the last several years.

A while back, Enoch started to have some problems with his vision. When he went to the clinic, he was told he has cataracts in both eyes. He has been taking eye drops to reduce the pressure, but it has gotten to a point where he cannot drive at night or use a computer because of his sensitivity to the glaring lights.

A couple weeks ago he was supposed to go in for surgery, but because he did not have the funds to pay for it, he was unable to have the procedure. The surgery costs between $1500 - $2000 US dollars. It would be wonderful if we can find a way to help him out!

There are a couple ways you can join the effort in helping Enoch. First, pray. Pray that he can get the surgery and have successful recovery so he can continue to serve as pastor at a growing, active church in Accra.

Second, if you are able, you can donate here on this fundraising page. Anything will help, even $5! All the money collected on this page will go to Enoch.

I will be sure to keep you all updated on the progress of everything with Enoch. He has been serving his community and my family through his prayers and encouragement for years.

He often writes daily devotional emails and sends them to his congregation as well as me and my sister. Lately, though, with cataracts he has not been able to send them. However, here is one he sent out in August:

So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. (Isaiah 30:18 NLT)

Isn't this a wonderful verse? It tells you God is waiting to be good to you. He's actually looking and longing for an opportunity to show His goodness. He is a God of justice and He desires to make every wrong thing right. But He can only be good to those who are waiting for Him to be good to them, those who believe His promises.

Are you available? Don't fall into Satan's trap of being negative about your current situations no matter how bad it may appear to be. Don't believe when those voices tell you, your past has not past away and your future is also bleak. Choose to believe God and get ready to receive the wonderful gifts He is waiting to give to you.

I hope that you can join me in the effort to help out Enoch! Thanks so much, Leigh Anne
