The family of Melanie Zamoida Vine is raising money to offset costs incurred by her short battle with cancer and cremation expenses.

Melanie Vine lost her short battle with lung cancer on Monday November 14th at 3:28 a.m. Melanie leaves behind her daughter Michelle, son Bob (Holly), and her four grandchildren, Danny, Alexas, Robert and Kieran.

Melanie was diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2011. Two years ago, her employer cut her hours back from full time to part time and she lost all of the insurance policies that she paid into since starting employment with the company in October 2002. This included her cancer policy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to help Melanie's son and daughter offset the expenses incurred by her treatment and the disposition of her body. Melanie wished to be cremated and her ashes spread in Narrangansett Bay, RI.

Melanie was a wonderful generous woman. Many troubled teenagers considered her to be their adopted mother. Scores of people knew her simply as Mom. Melanie was a gifted seamstress who made pillows for every holiday. Despite her children's encouragement, Melanie never sold any of her handiwork. She was also a talented cook, specializing in Polish food. Her pierogies were reknown and a long awaited Christmas treat. No matter how low on funds she was, she still managed to spoil her grandchildren with clothes and treats. She was much loved by many people across the country and we will all miss her very much.
