The Flint family is coming together to raise money for Sophia's journey against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia(ALL).

On January 8, 2013 Sophia Flint was seen at Seton Medical Hospital for flu like symptoms. When she arrived the doctors examined her and noticed that she was very pale and her liver was 3 times the size it should be. He then sent her by ambulance to Mclane Children's Hospital in Temple, TX. Upon arrival, Dr. Javier Kane ran many test on Sophia. They determined that she was experiencing mild heart failure and admitted her to the PICU floor for more test. Results showed from the blood work ran that all her red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets were extremely low. Her red blood cells alone showed they were a 2 when children her age averages a 12 red blood count. To raise these blood levels doctors gave Sophia 5 different blood transfusions. On January 10, 2013 Dr. Kane decided to perform a Bone Marrow Test. That evening the results came back showing she had developed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, also known as ALL, and that it had spread to 70% in her bones. On January 11, 2013 Dr. Kane decided it was best to insert a permanent port in her chest to help with future blood draws and IV chemotherapy. They then performed a Spinal chemotherapy to start her treatment at the same time she received a spinal tap to see if the cancer spread to her brain. We were very blessed to announce that those results showed negative. Later that evening, Sophia received her first round of IV chemotherapy. Sophia has a long journey ahead of her, approximately 2 to 3 years, but she has a very strong family and support system to help her every inch of the way.
