Fundraiser for Lucy's cancer surgery, tumor removal and follow up Chemo treatments

On 3/28/2012, Lucy underwent surgery to remove a Fast-growing tumor in her mouth.

We noticed this growing in February 2012, after she chewed on a bone. We thought she was bleeding due to the bone, but the bleeding Never stopped - it just got worse.

Lucy bled so bad that we changed her blankets every few hours and she soaked a twin mattress. He mouth was so full of infection that the smell was unbearable.

She went to 5 vets to see if anyone could remove the tumor and no one was willing to do the surgery.
The 5th vet was the one who gave me a serious referral and went above to help set up an appointment.

Lucy went to the Animal Caner & Imaging center in Canton, MI to be evaluated. The doctor took x-rays of her mouth to see how invasive the tumor. It extended into the bone and spread from the middle of her bottom jaw to the back behind the cheekbone.

The surgery was performed on the same day. The results that came back from MSU were positive for Oral Malignant Sarcoma.

The margins show the Cancer spread all the way to the ends. The mass was so large it could not all be removed with surgery.

Lucy requires 6 rounds of Chemo, 3 weeks apart, chest x-rays and bloodwork to follow up at each visit. The vet however is refusing to begin Chemo until the entire surgery bill is Paid in full.

Lucy is once again acting like her puppy self. She is happy, eating and trying to play.
I am very excited that she will remain in our lives for many more years.

I am looking for donations to finish paying the Cancer center for the surgery so that she may begin Chemo.
I hate the thought that even with this life-threatening diagnosis - the vet still thinks about money instead of Lucy's health and well-being.

I do not want the time, effort and surgery to be for nothing. I refused to give up on my dog and continued to seek a vet would would remove the tumor. I refuse to give up finding a way to pay the vet to begin Chemo.

As a parent (human & doggy), I know that my son would never be treated so inhumane and want the same for my 'Baby Lu'.

Thank you
