The friends and family of Melisa Skeen are joining hands to help aid in her battle with breast cancer.Thank you for your prayers and support

Melisa's journey with breast cancer began three years ago. Due to her Multiple Sclerosis, she has not been able to obtain health insurance as this is a "pre-existing" medical condition. She has been diagnosed with MS for the past twelve years. Her courage and strength with MS and her new battle with breast cancer is inspiring.

It was not until recently when she encountered the "Cancer Detection Program: Every Woman Counts" that treatment finally began. It is her hope that any woman that needs treatment for breast cancer can receive it in a timely manner despite their age, socio-economic background and/or pre-existing medical conditions. Other well known foundations were not of assistance when she was in dire need of help because she is under the age of fifety. She encourages every woman to seek help through this program.

On March 16, 2012, she was diagnosed initially with stage I invasive ductal breast cancer of the right breast. After literature review and meeting with physicians she chose to have a partial mastectomy (lumpectomy) with sentinal node removal. Radiation and Chemotherapy will definitely be part of her treatment plan. Types and duration is yet to be determined. Final plan of treatment will be decided April 6, 2012 once lymph node involvement is known.

Once she was accepted into this program, and biopsy was pending, she realized she would not be able to work through this journey. Employment is already an obstacle because of her MS and the physical stress it places on her body. This, in conjunction with breast cancer, makes working impossible. She is a single mother of three. She always faces adversity with a positive outlook but resources are slim.

If you can help in any way with daily living and outlying medical expenses it would be greatly appreciated. I cannot begin to tell you how much it would mean to Melisa and her family.

God Bless
Ma halo
