PJ & Nicole Corbesato have 2 young daughters with a serious illness and now have lost all of their belongings to a house fire.
PJ and Nicole have had a rough couple of years to say the least. They have two young daughters - Isabella, 2.5 years old and Ava who is nearly 1 year old. Both of these children have Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). HLHS is a rare congenital heart defect in which the left ventricle of the heart is severely underdeveloped. The treatment for this condition is a series three of palliative surgeries. These surgeries are not a cure, but rather enable the body to survive with a single ventricle. If this fails, the only remaining option is a heart transplant.
This past August, Bella had her third open heart surgery. There have been some setbacks, but she's doing ok at the moment. Ava has had two surgeries and will have her third in a year or so. Here is a link to the girls' facebook page if you'd like to follow their story:
As you can imagine, having two children with serious medical conditions has put a serious financial strain on the family. Between hospital stays, doctors appointments and around the clock care for Ava and Bella, Nicole has not been able to return to her job as a hairdresser and they now live on just PJ's income.
Yesterday, 10/19, another disaster struck this family. While PJ was working, the dryer in their rented condo caught fire. Nicole and the girls were able to get out of the house and everyone is OK, but all of their belongings are gone. Unfortunately, they do not have renter's insurance.
