Randy's Rally . . . family and friends are rallying behind Randy Smith to raise money to help with his battle against cancer.

In May of 2012 Randy Smith was diagnosed with Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma on the base of his tongue and in his lymph nodes. Since his diagnosis, Randy has gone through surgery to remove 8 of his teeth and a biopsy. They have been told the tumor is inoperable. Randy started his first round of chemotherapy a few weeks ago. The treatments alone are taking a toll on his physical and emotional state. The weight loss, loss of appetite, difficulty in keeping even liquids down, severe dehydration and being physically weak are just a few of the side affects he is already facing.

The next round of chemotherapy is scheduled for June 27, 2012. This process is 10 to 12 hours at MD Anderson, with 4 days of a treatment at home. He will have a total of 3 rounds of this chemotherapy and will then start chemo and radiation, hopefully by the first of August.

Randy is self employed and is the sole provider for his family. As you can imagine, the stress of the financial burden along with trying to get through the day to day physical needs is trying. Randy and his wife Debbie have an unshakable faith in God. It is through Him that they find their strength and lay down all their worries and unknowns.

As family and friends of Randy, we need to RALLY around them at this time with our constant prayers of healing and comfort. Please prayerfully consider helping them financially as well! The cost of driving from their home to MD Anderson, parking, treatments, medication . . . it is adding up quickly. We can not change the disease of which they are fighting, but we CAN help the way they are battling to overcome with the gift of our resources!

It is a community of which we live and as a community we can RALLY AROUND RANDY to help them through this fight!
