My cat, Garbo, was severely injured in a dog attack. Please help her recover from her wounds by donating whatever you can spare.

My cat, Garbo, was attacked by two dogs on November 19th 2011. As this happened on a Saturday, we had to take her to an emergency vet, and she spent two days in the cat version of intensive care, battling for her life.

She sustained very severe injuries in the dog attack - three broken ribs, internal bruising and a large wound on her right hind leg. Most serious of all, however, were the puncture wounds to the "fat pad" on her stomach. This area has poor blood flow, and wounds often become infected with the flesh becoming "necrotic" i.e. the tissue actually starts to die. This is what happened to Garbo, and she had to be transferred to a specialty clinic to have an operation to remove the dead flesh.

She was discharged from the vet clinic on Monday, and we are currently administering food and medication through a feeding tube.

Despite all her injuries, Garbo is on the road to recovery, but her medical expenses have run to $5000. It is also possible that she may need a second operation to remove necrotic flesh in the near future.

Garbo is a very special cat because my husband and I rescued her from a feral cat colony when she was just a kitten. She started off her life with us as a frightened and skittish wildcat, but eventually turned into the sweetest, most trusting cat you could ever imagine. I love this cat dearly and I want to help her because she has a very good chance of survival.

Please help in any way you can. Even giving $1 would help us! Thank you so much!
