The family and friends of Brooke Lipscomb are asking for your help with her treatment, recovery, and rebuilding from her paraplegia accident!

On April 16, 2011 Brooke Lipscomb age 30 was sitting on the couch with her partner when her world literally came falling down on her. A 100ft. tree fell on her house landing on her and her partner. She was instantly paralyzed from the waist down. They were both trapped with the roof on their laps. Brooke managed to find her cell phone with just her middle and ring finger. She called her mom and told her she was dying and that she loved her and then called 911. With Stephanie slowly slipping away Brooke tried to soothe her as she lay there in agonizing pain. Stephanie took her last breath at 2:15, just 5 minutes before the rescue workers got there. They had to cut the tree off of Brooke and Stephanie's necks and had to cut the roof off of Brooke's lap. Brooke was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center In Tennessee. She had surgery the following day. When she finally came to in ICU she found out that she was now a paraplegic, also suffering with 2 holes in her right lung, a broken scapula, and 5 of her right ribs were broke. She was in the hospital from April 16, 2011-July 30, 2011, with many complications during her stay. She came back to a rented mobile home with the only thing handicapped accessible was the ramp. She lost almost everything in her home and had no insurance. Being without any income caused her credit to decrease significantly to where she couldn't even get a loan to get a new home with the accessibility that she needed. She still lives in the rented mobile home with me and my son Duncan who is 7. She does all she can to help anyone in need and has the biggest heart of anyone I know. Her strength, willpower, desire, and her will to live is such an inspiration to me and so many others. I would love to give her the dream she has of owning another home that she can live in comfortably, a wheelchair that she can stand up in to give her more freedom and opportunity to move forward with her life. I am a 32 year old mother of 1 child and I wish my career of being a beautician could do that for her but it's just not possible. That's why I'm willing to try any means necessary to reach out to as many people I can that care enough to help us reach this goal. Please try and see yourself through her eyes and having your whole world changed in the blink of an eye, losing your partner and best friend, your ability to walk, your home, your most precious memories in the home, and so much pride and dignity just ripped away from you, but still having the courage to live and try again. I'm asking for everyone's help, whatever that may be, please open your hearts and embrace this special cause. The money could help her with a home with modified equipment in it to live comfortably, medical supplies, a wheelchair, medical bills, transportation, medical procedures, rehabilitative therapies, and so much more that this type of injury ends up costing. With much thanks and many blessings from me and everyone else that cares for Brooke.
