We set up this fundraiser to allow those who wish to graciously contribute towards Angelica's medical expenses an opportunity to do so.

As of today (4/10), Angelica has been in the hospital 66 straight days due to her severe pneumonia and a variety of subsequent complications.  In order to save her life, she was placed on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) for 12 days and brought down a path that very few will go and survived.  Among the complications that she has had to endure, the onset of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) has had the most profound and life-altering effects on our daughter.  This disease caused Angelica to develop another, more severe complication with her kidneys, End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), essentially kidney failure.  While we are not yet giving up all hope, it appears unlikely that her kidneys will recover enough to support her body without long-term dialysis and a kidney transplant may be necessary.

We will be the first to tell you just how very lucky and truly blessed we are that Angelica has made it this far.  We know just how precarious the path was that she had to take and we were well aware that her very survival was at stake.  She has proved herself a fighter time and again and it is clear from our perspective that nothing less than a miracle has occurred.

The purpose of this fund is to help us deal with the onslaught of medical bills that are coming in while also bridging the income gap as I am currently 10 weeks through an unpaid FMLA backed leave of absence.  Thankfully we do have insurance, but we will have to come out of pocket pretty deep to cover all the obligations and it is hard to say what the final amount will be due to the unbelievable breadth of medical services and procedures Angelica has had to endure during this time.  Thank you all so much for any assistance you feel comfortable in providing to us in support of our sweet Angel.

God Bless you all for your support!
