Please help us preserve Sami K. Hartsfield's legacy by helping us create a college fund for her children. Thank you!

Sara K. "Sami" Hartsfield, ACP of Houston, Texas left this world on June 28, 2012; hers was a light too briefly lit … Our goal is to pay tribute to Sami K. Hartsfield and to preserve her legacy by creating a college fund for her children.

Many of us knew Sami professionally as a consumer law paralegal, freelance writer and blogger, but she was also a friend, a daughter, a sister, and a loving mother who left behind an adult son and two young daughters.
Many of her friends never actually met Sami in person – ah, the wonders of the Internet!

Sami was one of those very rare individuals that took time out of her busy schedule to make a real connection with everyone whose life she touched. For some of us it was it never went beyond e-mail, phone calls, and Facebook post; for others it was her the wisdom and wit that she shared on her blog and in her countless contributions to other blogs and fora; for the truly lucky among us, she was a fixture in our everyday lives .

Sami maintained a popular legal blog called legallyblog (www.samihartsfield.wordpress.com) and was writing her first book, which she was very eager to complete. Her articles appeared in the State Bar of Texas’ Paralegal Division’s Journal, the Houston Metropolitan Paralegal Association’s Journal, “The Burden of Proof”, the Institute of Paralegal Education and the National Paralegal Reporter.

To say that Sami was admired, respected, and accomplished is an understatement. In her far too short life she worked as a law firm Webmaster, law firm social media marketer, and as a ghostwriter for personal injury law firms; received her AAS degree in paralegal studies with a 4.0; graduated University of Houston’s Law Center Summer 2008 Prelaw Institute with a 4.0; and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Sami interned at Texas’ 14th Court of Appeals under Chief Justice Adele Hedges in 2007 and at Lone Star Legal Aid in the summer of 2009. She was a NALA Advanced Certified Paralegal, and earned six specialty certifications in Discovery; Trial Practice; Contracts Management; Social Security Disability Law; and Entity & Individual Medical Liability.

Her loss has been felt throughout the legal community, nothing of course, compared to the loss felt by those closest to her … her children, her family –that is why we have chosen to honor Sami’s legacy by creating this fund for her children.

Please help us celebrate the bright light that Sami emanated within the paralegal profession, the knowledge she shared with those around her, her uncanny ability to immediately connect with those who had the opportunity to know her on a more personal level, and the abundant love she had for her children –

Donate today to the Sami K. Hartsfield Memorial Fund.

Thank you.
