This fundraiser is for Aaron Contreras who lost his belongings in a fire. Funds will be used to replace clothes and household items.

At 2:56pm on February 13th fire dispatchers began receiving calls reporting visible smoke and flame from the 4th floor of Aaron's apartment building at 2346 NW Glisan, Portland, Oregon.

Firefighters were dispatched and by 2:59pm the first units arrived. On arrival firefighters found fire in a 3rd floor apartment that had extended to the (4th floor) apartment directly above. This 4th floor apartment was occupied by our friend, Aaron Contreras along with his miniature chihuahua, Calvin, and his cat, Luke.

Firefighters evacuated occupants and began fighting the fire. The fire was declared under control by 3:47pm and firefighters began checking for hot spots and removing burned material to prevent the fire from "rekindling". Thanks to the quick action of firefighters no (human) occupants were reported injured in this fire. One pet (a greyhound) was found deceased and firefighters located the owner. Many pets were rescued by firefighters.

Damage to the building includes severe fire damage to the two apartments (Aaron's and the apartment below his) and significant smoke damage on the 3rd and 4th floors. The 1st and 2nd floors suffered water damage. Damage estimates and fire cause are not yet available.

There are 36 apartment units in Aaron's building. The entire building is temporarily uninhabitable due to the damage. Approximately 50 people were displaced by this single alarm fire.

Aaron was able to get out with his dog, cat, phone, wallet, notebook computer, jeans, t-shirt and a pair of shoes. The rest must be replaced. Your donation of any amount would be truly appreciated and put to good use.
