Help support Robbie in his battle against PVL, Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy with an i-Pad to communicate with!!

Robbie just couldn't wait till he was due in March and crashed the New Years Eve party over two months premature. Robbie spent over a month in the NICU, and at some point during his "hotel" stay his brain suffered a lack of blood & oxygen which caused a bunch of little cysts that left holes in his brain- Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL). Since his NICU discharge Robbie has been hospitalized numerous times for Infantile Spasms, a form of Epilepsy. Robbie PVL also causes him to suffer from Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and Central Visual Impairment.

Currently, Robbie is being followed by an amazing team of doctors at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has a Neurologist, Neuro-Opthalmologist, Opthalmologist, Gastroenterologist, Diagnostician, Geneticist and Pediatrician. He is also being followed by the Children's Hospital's Cerebral Palsy Clinic, The Comission for the Blind, and two separate teams of therapists (6 therapists), including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Developmental, and soon.. Speech Therapy!

Robbie has come a LONG way this past year and is learning to sit and combat crawl. He has difficulty with the right side of his body (especially his hand) making activities like drinking from a cup, crawling, and playing extremely difficult and frustrating for him. He wears orthopedic braces all day on his ankles, and has a brace to keep his right hand open while he sleeps.

Robbie was blessed to have some of his vision improve over this past year. We have to patch his eye every day to strengthen the muscles in the other eye, and he will be having surgery within the next 4-6 months to correct some of his vision issues.

We are hoping to be able to purchase an i-Pad for Robbie now that he is gaining more control over his body. Is a ton of research showing how the i-pad is extremely helpful in the developmental progress of children with learning and physical disabilities. Robbie shows an enormous interest in our home computer and even our cell phones, so we believe that he will benefit greatly from an i-pad where he has access to a touch screen. This was he can get an immediate cause and effect. He will be able to interact with it on a completely different level than just being able to bang on our keyboard and not know what he did.

i-Pads have applications for anything you can imagine from simple cause and effect, to applications that help with speech and vision to communication.

Being in a single income household (I m a stay-at-home mom to my special needs son) with heaping medical bills coming in daily makes it extremely difficult to even dream about being able to afford an iPad for Robbie. We, despite our financial situation, are determined to have the best the world has to offer for our son, so if that means that we have to cut corners in our simple lives to afford it, it's what we will do. With your help, we can reach this dream much faster! Any little bit you can contribute will go directly to purchasing an i-Pad and applications for Robbie to use with the help of his therapists and us to learn and communicate with the world. Please help us make our dream come true for Robbie! He deserves it!

Thank you!!
