The family and friends of Bob Hawkins unite to raise money to help him win his battle with cancer and health struggles.

Help Ryan & Katie raise money to save their Daddy and help Bob win this battle!

Those who know him will tell you Bob is a dedicated father to his two daughters, Ryan 7 and Katie 4, as well as a devoted husband to his wife Joni. Bob and his family are going through one of the most challenging times of their lives. It is frustrating that someone so young (39 years old) is enduring a fight for his life. Bob has been a source of compassion, help, and support for so many. I feel truly blessed to have friends like Bob & Joni. I truly believe that Bob can beat this with a little help from his friends.

For those who are not aware, Bob has been suffering for some time from disabling damage and painful neurological damage, disease, and issues. He endures immense pain, fatigue, and discomfort on a daily basis and undergoes monthly treatments involving spinal blocks and epidurals among other treatments and medications. He has been unable to work due to those injuries and his resulting condition. Bob has been limited by his physical limitations and increasingly immense pain. His condition has steadily worsened.

The family received additional devastating news as Bob has been suffering from additional medical issues and complications. For the last several months, Bob has been suffering from intense, violent episodes of vomiting (including hours to days of bile), nausea, lightheadedness and blackouts, painful cramps, and other complications and issues. Doctors just completed another round of testing and blood work, and his medical team diagnosed Bob with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), and Pancreatic Cancer. At this point it is not known as to what extent and whether it may have possibly spread to include Periampullary cancer, and possibly the bladder and other organs. Initial tests indicate some damage to the liver and kidneys, but it is beleived certain medications contributed to this as well. Bob will undergo additional procedures and testing including additional blood work, MRIs, scans, biopsies/laparoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and other methods to determine the extent and necessary course of action and treatment/therapies including surgery (if determined possible), chemotherapy, radiation, and other options as presented and recommended by his care team including alternative methods and the care of the best specialists. The combination of ailments, illness, and disease make his condition more complicated, but also may ironically provide more hope as well.

Unfortunately, this form of cancer has a very low survival rate. This has not dissuaded Bob and he has vowed to fight for his Joni and for his two precious daughters. He is determined to beat the odds and ironically Bob's medical issues and recent symptoms provided detection unusually early for this type of cancer. Therefore, there is hope and with God all things are possible! We are praying and believing for his healing. However, the reality is Bob’s treatment is complicated due to additional health concerns and treatments. While Bob has some medical coverage, they have been severally limiting the testing, procedures, medications, and treatment they will pay for. Bob will be undergoing extensive testing and aggressive treatment to save his life. Bob and his family have already endured a major financial burden due to his previous treatments and testing. Additionally, it is expected that his medical treatments will likely involve having to travel to specialists thereby increasing the cost and burden on the family. This means the family will have to cover these additional costs. What is certain is that Bob is very ill and he and his family are having to cover the mounting expenses for testing, specialists, medicine, treatments, equipment, and whatever else comes up including travel, accommodations, and incidentals when necessary. This has also further complicated and strained the already tight finances, as Joni has had to step in to not only take care of the home and kids, but also as Bob’s care taker, when she is suffering from some medical issues herself.

We have created this page because Bob needs our help with the major financial burden that comes with illness of this magnitude. While Bob is initially getting medical care here locally, it is anticipated his care and treatment will be referred to specialists at facilities better equipped and experienced and where he will receive the highest quality treatment and care based on his situation. He deserves nothing less than the best. While his family is willing to do anything to raise the money needed, we know that they cannot do it alone and the reality is cancer treatment is not cheap. If insurance won’t cover, we will!
Bob is staying upbeat with steadfast determination, a great attitude, an everlasting faith in God and gratitude for family and friends. The reality is his disability and health insurance simply was inadequate for a disease such as this. Many of you have had personal experiences with cancer or illness and you know the toll it can take on a family even when the appropriate measures are in place to bear the financial burden. Bob certainly is no stranger losing his father to cancer. With the help of Bob’s family, friends, our communities and the kindness and compassion of strangers, I know that we can raise enough money to help alleviate this burden from the family so Bob can focus on beating this. Let us all help Bob and his family keep their focus on his fight against cancer and his other medical issues and not on the monetary costs of his treatment. Please donate whatever you can. Every little bit helps. Understandably, for some this is a trying economic time. If you are unable to donate financially, please help us spread the word to meet this need.
Some have asked if they could send checks or donations directly to the family. You can indeed send donations by mail if desired. The information you need is:

On behalf of Bob and his family, I would like to thank you all for your generous contributions and kind words. It is an amazing feeling to touch someone’s life in such a positive way and to give back to those who have given so much. We hope you will join friends and family to help defray some of the financial strain on Bob and his family as he fights for his life. Help us give him some peace of mind so he may focus on trying to get well so he can be here for his two young daughters. The girls desperately need your help to save their Daddy.

The Family is holding strong to their faith in God, believing they will win this battle... Let's show them we stand with them in their time of need and how much we care!

We will post updates as Bob fights and wins this battle with your prayers and support!!!!
