Please help offset/assist with daily living expenses to alleviate the financial burden of a newlywed couple with multiple health problems.

Donating to this fund will help a family find financial security while living with multiple health problems. In April 2011, Megan and Gary decided during a six hour wait in the emergency room that they would get married. Now newly wed, this story of true love, although heartwarming and life-changing, bears with it an ugly truth: both Megan and Gary have multiple obstacles to overcome in becoming financially stable.

Over the past 9 months Megan has visited the emergency room 4 times with severe lower abdominal pain that, most nights, prevents her from sleeping until she collapses in exhaustion. She has since found that she has recurring ovarian cysts.

Megan also has severe, unexplained pain throughout her whole body, though most days it centers in the middle of her spine. Because of her lack of insurance, she has been unable to receive the necessary tests to find out what is causing this pain that has plagued her for over 10 years. Years ago, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but was unable to get a second opinion due to having a lack of funds and the ability to take off work, only now she wishes she was still employed.

Currently, Megan and Gary do what they can to make ends meet, but the ends are not being met. One car was put into voluntary repossession and the other needs several hundred dollars worth of repairs to pass inspection. Without a car, they will lose their only regular form of income.

Megan is no stranger to hard work. In August 2010, Megan graduated summa cum laude from George Mason University with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology.

While at Mason, Megan held the positions of chapter president of Psi Chi, the international honour's society in psychology, and Association for Psychological Science Student Caucus (APSSC) campus representative. Megan held student memberships in the Association for Psychological Science (APS); the American Psychological Association (APA); Golden Key International Honour Society; Psi Chi; and Delta Alpha Pi, an honor society for disabled students. She also received the Outstanding Senior Award from Mason's Department of Psychology.

Megan wants to go on to graduate school to receive a PhD in Clinical Research Psychology, but when applying to programs will cost over $800 total, it seems impossible, leaving her unable to gain a degree that will help her obtain a job.

Due to her health problems interfering with her ability to work the mandated 50+ hours a week, Megan left her position as an assistant manager at a pizza place in April and has been unable to find any paid work aside from a couple gigs that do little for helping to pay the rent.

Due to the inability to find a paid position in not only her field of study but also fast food, Megan has taken to volunteering for several local, national, and international groups. One is a local nonprofit organization that offers health care, mental health care, and case management to those risking homelessness or who are already homeless. Megan also receives services from this organization to help her and her spouse prevent their homelessness and help her in her job search. It has been months, and she is losing hope.

Megan wants nothing more than to help provide for her and her spouse, but the physical and emotional struggle she goes through on a daily basis is debilitating, leaving her bedridden oftentimes for days.

The funds raised through this site will go directly to this family in their time of need, and could help them immensely. Megan and Gary need all your support to help them stay strong through this trial. All your generous contributions are deeply appreciated, and we hope you will keep them in your thoughts.
